Ján Viazanička
(born in 1983, Banská Bystrica, Slovakia)
I n 2009 he successfully completed a master's degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, at the Department of Photography and New Media. In 2007 he graduated as Bachelor of the Art Academy in Banska Bystrica, Faculty of Fine Arts. During his studies he completed an internship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2004). From 2012 to 2015 he worked as a photographer for the SITA (Slovak News Agency). In 2013 he collaborated with the weekly LIFE, from 2013 he worked as a secondary school teacher of Photography. In 2011 he was employed in the marketing department of Theatre Dance Studio. He is a founding member of the civic association ARTTODAY where he operates as a project manager and fundraiser. He also cooperates with the Slovak section Artyčok. tv. He is mainly devoted to conceptual art photography, but in recent years reportage and documentary photography have prevailed. He has published two photographic publications with Boris Nemeth, Transformation of Slovakia; 2012 and Transformation of Slovakia 2013: 1,150th anniversary of St. Cyril and Methodius in Great Moravia; 2013. In 2016 he won the second place in the contest Slovak Press Photo in the category World of Art and was nominated for Golden Eye in the Czech Press Photo in the category People We Talk About. In 2017 he was awarded the photographer of the year. Author of the project www.dokumentmagazin.sk - archive of Slovak photography. He currently lives and works in BB.
